The Tesco Property Research Team are now seeking a Site and Store Research Manager to be the voice of the customer within Property, and enable the business to make better decisions, by ensuring they reflect local customer behaviours and feedback, for now and for the future.

The Property Research Department at Tesco is responsible for creating, bringing together and communicating insight and foresight on customers, stores and the market, at a strategic, network and local level. It’s at the forefront of driving growth across all our International businesses by playing a key role in optimising our Property Investments.

Main Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Property Cycle and approval process for all new, refresh/repurpose stores and disposal opportunities by delivering sales forecasts and supporting papers for my region inline with the required timescales.
  • Developing and maintaining the location strategy for new space within my region.
  • Owning the store briefs for sites and stores in your region, which put local customers at the heart of our recommendations and highlight the best opportunities for new offers and services. This includes leading the build a brief meetings, presenting to senior stakeholders in the wider Property and Retail teams.
  • Reviewing sites, stores and competitors in my region once launched, collaborating with the Property and Retail teams. Having an in-depth understanding of the performance of new stores in my region leading to actionable insight and recommendations that reflect customer and colleague feedback.
  • Undertaking customer research and analysis projects to improve our understanding of stores.
  • Expanding our understanding of all uses of space (including propositional ingredients, multi-channel requirements and retail partnerships), working alongside the Asset team to understand how this may shape our future local store strategy.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve our ways of working (processes as well as with teams we work with).

Ideal Candidate

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Either a previous graduate position within the Site Research team OR
  • At least 2 years experience within a role that incorporates understanding customer and/or spatial data (Geography, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics degrees relevant).
  • Understanding of demographic and spatial data.
  • Ability to interpret customer data and research into actionable insight.
  • Intermediate GIS skills.
  • Intermediate Excel and Powerpoint skills.
