Imagining the Data Ready Social Science Graduate in the Twenty – Twenties, London

The focus of this symposium style event will be to further develop collaborations between the University sector and organisations in business and industry, and to better understand the relevant skills, knowledge and attributes that an appropriately trained social science data professional requires to be an attractive candidate to industry. Key aims of the event will be to work with industry partners and trainers to develop a deeper understanding of how best to provide graduates with training that will equip them appropriately for data-intensive careers, explore further the challenges faced by organisations and discuss opportunities to work in partnership to address these both in the workplace and academic social science community. This event will also provide an opportunity for those who have attended the AQMEN training workshops to reflect on their experience, highlighting the relevance and need for this training within their organisation, and feeding into wider discussions about how training might be developed in the future to ensure skills being taught are industry relevant for both social science graduates and existing employees.

The outcomes from this event are key to the future of the project and in order for it to be a success input from business and industry is essential. We would ask that wherever possible those who have attended the training workshops attend as their input will be extremely valuable. We would also like to invite those from your organisation with a responsibility for training, HR and recruitment and others with a general interest in these areas.
