We are recruiting for a Property Specialist in our Location Planning & Market Analysis team to work at our head office in West Yorkshire. This role will involve production of high quality and robust analysis for regular strategic ad hoc projects. This includes the development of new analysis, insight, models and tools to support major capex decisions and maximise asset value. You will be supporting the Location Planning & Market Analysis team by providing analytical and technical expertise to improve and develop forecasting techniques and processes. You will also provide ad hoc analysis to support the wider business as required.

Key relationships for this role are with:

  • Location Planning & Market Analysis team – ensure accurate provision of analysis for the whole team.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key teams around the business, specifically – Local Solutions, Customer Insight, Online, Formats, Wholesale and Petrol
  • Project work requires the development of new relationships as and when required. A new project may involve any team in the wider business.

What does success in the role looks like?

  • Provide high quality analysis and expertise to the Location Planning & Market Analysis team and wider business both through strategic projects and day-to-day ad-hoc work.
  • Ensure that all processes produce reliable, accurate data and any changes are managed in a timely, effective manner.
  • Strong network of relationships at all levels across the business.
  • Being an expert in the tools and techniques used within the team. Coaching others to develop their skills and encourage best practice across the team.

Skills you will need:

Essential

  • Intermediate proficiency in using Excel
  • Strong analytical background
  • Some knowledge of SQL
  • General understanding of databases and their structures
  • Some understanding of maps and geography
  • Ability to work in a team and under own initiative
  • Strong verbal communication, presentation and report writing skills
  • Strong logical thinking, strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills

Additional:

  • Intermediate proficiency in using Alteryx
  • Basic GIS experience
  • Knowledge of grocery retail sector
  • Some knowledge of Python, R

Day to day responsibilities:

Customer: (internal and external)

  • Provide analytical expertise on a project and ad hoc basis to help inform business decisions.

Colleague:

  • Support the Location Planning & Market Analysis team by providing regular analysis to improve and enhance forecasting methodologies. Provide general analytical and technical support and coaching.

Operational:

  • Progress strategic projects while responding to ad hoc analysis and data requests in a timely manner.
  • Ensure smooth operation of critical processes and tools.
  • Be a functional expert in analysis, process and technical issues, particularly in relation to strategic projects.
  • Work as an integral part of any confidential project teams constructed to work on major ad hoc projects.

Sales, Profit and Cash:

  • Support the Location Planning & Market Analysis team and wider business by analysis, insight and tools to support major capex decisions and inform business strategy.
  • Support the competitor impact forecasting and measurement process, enabling the business to appropriately respond to competitor openings and minimise lost sales.
  • Ensure that the team is able to extract the maximum amount of value from tools and systems.
