About the role:
The Market Development team sit within the Property department at Asda House. Using market intelligence & insight we are responsible for setting the strategic direction and market rationale for Real Estate and broader route to market decisions.
As a Market Evaluation Manager you will be driving ASDA’s market strategy, ensuring we have the right portfolio of stores & formats, in the right markets, for now and for the future. This job is essential to ASDA’s property activity, creating a market-led property plan, influencing ASDA’s property strategy and capex prioritisation. Candidates are likely to have experience as a Location Planner, Market Development Manager, Strategic Development Manager or similar.
The ins & outs:
- Market & store analysis to provide Network Plan/ Estate Optimisation recommendations across the ASDA portfolio – in store and online.
- Accurate Sales forecasting on all Property activity.
- Cross functional working to ensure strategy alignment, implementation & evolution.
- Support projects through Capex approvals process to Executive Board level.
- Review store performance & support Post Audit analysis.
- Monitor competitor activity & forecast potential impacts on the Asda portfolio.
What you’ll need:
- A proven track record of working in a Strategic Planning & Location Analysis team
- Experience of working in an analytical role, turning complex data into insight and robust recommendations
- Ability to think spatially, understanding how customers interact across different markets, channels and competitor sets
- Good communication skills & ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to influence across all leadership levels, presenting complex analysis in a clear and engaging way
- Good technical ability – Office essential (Excel, PowerPoint), GIS/ Alteryx/ Tableau knowledge preferable but not essential
- Good working knowledge of the U.K food retail market and competitor strategies and formats
- This role requires a combination of office & field work (1-2 days/wk)
