The fourth seminar of The Society for Location Analysis was a resounding success.
Approximately 30 members attended the evening seminar to discuss " Data for Site Location Research" at CB Hillier Parkers' prestigious Head Office, on Grosvenor Street, London.
The evening was kicked off with an introduction from Steven Halsall, Director of GeoBusiness Solutions, who provided a useful (and sometimes amusing!) insight into some of the issues and pitfalls that need to be considered when using external data.
Following this brief introduction Peter Sleight led a discussion amongst SLA Members and a select number of key suppliers of data for Site Location research. Suppliers included Mark Teale of CB Hillier Parker, Trevor Wood of TW Research, Melitta Berrino of Retail Locations and Ian Betts of Car Parking International, who all contributed to the many varied questions opened to the floor.
The society would like to thank Mark Teale of CB Hillier Parker for sponsoring this event and all the members attending who contributed to the success of the evening.
The next event, The Census - The Data are Landing!, will be taking place on Thursday 15th May at FPD Savills head office in London. We are lucky to have secured Chris Denham of the ONS and Keith Dugmore of Demographic Decisions, who will be bringing us unique and ground breaking information about the Census 2001 data.
