The Society for Location Analysis
Growing Pains of an 'Off-Price' Retailer
Speaker: Scott Stevenson, TK Maxx
The first Society for Location Analysis event of 2004 was a resounding success. Our thanks to our speaker Scott Stevenson of TK Maxx who gave an excellent insight into how an off-price retailer tackles store location issues.
Scott previously worked at Daewoo and Whitbread so has benefited from an excellent retail location grounding in the ‘Whitbread Academy’. Now at TK Maxx, Scott is the first retail location specialist at the company, and the first to ‘spill the beans’!
Scott discussed the following:
- Off - Price Retailing - What is it?
- Starting from scratch - Issues to overcome
- Measuring the Opportunity
- Measuring the Impact - Cannibalisation
- Other opportunities for GIS in the business
About 15 delegates attended including representatives from Abbey, Argos, Boots, Dixons, Homebase, Somerfield and Thomas Cook.
The Society for Location Analysis would like to thank Scott for presenting such a refreshingly interesting presentation, our Chairman Peter Sleight for chairing the proceedings and especially Argos, our hosts, who supplied refreshments and nibbles and an excellent venue for the evening.
