Localism - what does it mean for the commercial sector?

Following on from the SLA Forum on 12th October which was very successful, we continued that theme with a second Localism event at Boots on 30th November, putting it into a Regional and Local context...

Speakers included:

Grant Butterworth, Head of Planning, Transport & Intelligence Strategy at Nottingham City Council. Grant spoke at our last Boots event in 2009, and has agreed to give his views on the Localism agenda.

Jonathan Reynolds, Academic Director of the Oxford Institute for Retail Management, will discuss the issues, and hopefully be able to speak on the Mary Portas review of Britain's High Streets (assuming that review has reported in time). Even if it has not, Jonathan always has something interesting to say on the subject!

Thanks to Boots for hosting, our two excellent speakers and all who turned up; approximately 24 made it on a very cold a blustery night, which is excellent for a regional event. The two presentations were followed by a healthy discussion, the usual refreshments and networking.

Download PDFs of the two presentations here:

Thanks again to everyone for contributing to a very stimulating evening.
