Job Introduction

The International Property Research team at Tesco is responsible for creating, bringing together and communicating insight and foresight on customers, stores and the market, at a strategic, network and local level. It’s at the forefront of driving growth across all our International businesses by playing a key role in optimising our Property Investments.

Role Responsibility

The International Analysis Manager plays an influential role in driving, supporting and enabling our in-country teams in Europe and Asia, to fulfill the objective of providing insight to guide both property and wider business strategy.

This will involve:

  • Coaching and training country teams to build their analytical, insight and technical capability
  • Promoting best practice techniques to ensure insight is applied effectively and consistently
  • Applying an analytical and technical lens to review and enhance the use of existing data, tools and systems
  • Undertake analytical project work to provide actionable insight into key property-related business issues
  • Developing new tools and models to support with new and existing store appraisal
  • Support existing and future systems developments

The Ideal Candidate

To succeed in this role you’ll need:

  • A high level of numeracy with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Very strong Excel / VBA skills
  • Excellent Database Management Skills and knowledge of SQL
  • To be a strong communicator able to explain complex ideas to a wide range of audiences
  • A passion for change and striving to improve things for customers
  • An appetite for International travel and working with people from different cultures, across multiple time-zones

In addition it’s an advantage if you have:

  • Experience of using Geographic Information Systems for spatial analysis
  • Experience of using BI / Statistics packages such as R, Hadoop, SAS, Alteryx

This is a unique and key role within the Network Planning Team at Coles. This team is responsible for advising where to build new stores and for forecasting how much money they will take.

Leading a team of four analysts the role is both responsible for ensuring that the Network Planning Team have a world class GIS system, and that the wider Coles business has all of the relevant data it needs on stores, catchments, customers and competitors in order to drive better business decisions.
